Do you have some time to spare? Do you want to get involved in the future of Meppershall? If so, why not think about joining the Parish Council as we currently have a vacancy. We are an active council looking for enthusiastic people to join us!
This is a voluntary position and you will need to be available to attend evening meetings one a month in the Village Hall. Meetings are usually scheduled on the second Monday of the month.
We own and manage various facilities in the village such as Centenary Field, Old Road Meadow Nature Reserve and Wry Close Allotments, with The Glebe at Woodlands Rest due to be transferred to us in the near future.
We help facilitate several community events such as community litter picks, the Summer Fayre and the Christmas Tree Lights Switch on.
We are consulted on all planning applications in the Parish.

A councillor’s primary role is to represent their parish and the people who live in it. As part of a local council you will work with Council staff to:
About an hour a week although some spend more time than this – and some less. It also depends on how involved you want to be! Each councillor should attend the monthly council meeting. The meetings start at 7pm and usually finish around 9pm. Between meetings you will also receive and reply to various emails and be expected to read documents related to the Council.
Being a councillor is an enjoyable way of contributing to village life and helping to make Meppershall a better place to live and work.
